Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Easy to use
Dashboard is especially fun. The system itself is simple and easy to use. Good worthwhile upgrade.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Most Advanced Operating System in the World
As a former Windows user, I am more than a little impressed with Mac OS X. Apple has long been an industry leader in innovation to produce productivity, stability and a friendly user experience. This pattern of success continues with Apple's current iteration of the Mac OS, Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.x).

Apple's newest OS runs on a Unix foundation, making it one of the most stable, secure operating systems on the planet. Coupled with tons of software built-in and thousands of other titles to choose from, Mac OS X is a computer user's dream.

I could talk about a thousand cool new features in Tiger, but I'll just point out one of them today, which is to me the most valuable feature introduced in the recent version of the Mac OS. Spotlight, a super fast search tool, is built right into the OS and allows you to search content - not just file names - on your hard drive. Using Spotlight I find Word documents, iTunes downloads, contacts, emails, images and so forth. The possibilities are endless with Mac OS X.

Whether you're a current Mac user considering the upgrade to Tiger or a Windows user considering the switch, this OS is for you.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Great OS
I upgraded from OS X 10.2.8 to this version because my new Photoshop CS2 asked for it; otherwise I would not have updated since my OEM version was already steady and rock solid enough. Immediately after installing OS X 10.4.3, it'll update itself to 10.4.5. Though I consider OS X an excellent OS, I don't see any significant value for upgrading. iPhoto is still in version 2. To get version 6 you need to purchase iLife. To get RAW image import, you need ver 6. However, the new Image Capture do support this capability. Though QuickTime handles HD, you really need a faster processor--Mine is at 867MHz and HD Video rendering is quite shaky. Stated simply, many new features, especially AV, really need to accompany faster chips, so be warned. Dashboard and widgets seem like a waste of time and space to me. Spotlight is extremely fascinating, but I find little use for it. And don't choose "Highest" Processor Performance option under Energy Saver in System Preferences. Doing so would might produce high noise due to processor overun. I thought Smart Folder is real smart. you can find, filter and pool files/songs/pictures under different folders into a single one. Expose is also great. this feature allows user to see all open folders by sliding your mouse to a "hot" screen corner. Since I own both a PC and Mac, it's only fair to compare both. Although OS X is steadier than Win XP, Win XP has the Office Suite advantage that Apple still seriously lacks.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - OS X Tiger
This is a significant upgrade f rom the previous operating version. I think 'user friendly' aspect of this operating system is worth the investment. Amy Mac user can appreciate the way its put together, and once you become familiar with the logo's, it's a breeze to use. I don't think the cost of the program is out of line, and it will clean up your entire system as far as accessing programs and files
